The RBA has concluded that it is in the public interest to remove surcharging for all designated card networks (eftpos, Mastercard and Visa) from 1 October 2026.
Historically, we do not charge any surcharges to our customers for all in-store payments, with the exception of Amex, which is not greater than the cost of acceptance - far less, in fact. Online hire bookings using our built in payment merchants such as Stripe, Shopify and Paypal, where surcharging is generally higher, have also waived these fees up to this date.
Unfortunately due to the current climate of business in Victoria we are no longer able to absorb this rising cost. This isn't a decision we've taken lightly - as many of you may have realised, this is only the second time we've raised prices since our inception in 2013, and we know many small businesses are in the same position.
What this means
In preparation for this transition, as of the 28th of September 2026 we will be slowly adjusting all prices on hire items by between 2-5%. Big numbers!
Aside from incorporating the surcharge fees, some small tweaks to our pricing across our inventory allows us to continue growing the hire department with the latest and greatest gear for you and keep on top of rising service & repair costs.
We're also taking this opportunity to make some small adjustments to our pricing around delivery and pickup as well as staff labour for after-hours, public holiday and weekend pricing. We'll let you know the changes when you book an event with us.
Please note all bookings and productions booked prior to this date will not be affected by these changes. Obviously!
At this time, retail product and vinyl record pricing also won't change!
