Notes:

Saigon Soul Revival’s album Chốn Ta Về (The Place We Return To), produced by Jan Hagenkötter and recorded fully analog in Ho Chi Minh City by Benjamin James, explores personal journeys of discovery, loss, and homecoming. Building on their 2024 release Mối Lương Duyên, the band expands its signature Global Pop and rock sound by blending Vietnamese musical heritage with global influences, highlighted by the inclusion of traditional instruments like the T’rung, Sáo Trúc, Đàn Tranh, Đàn Bầu, and Đàn Nguyệt.
The release features notable collaborations with prominent Vietnamese guest musicians, including virtuoso Đinh Nhật Minh, jazz saxophonist Trần Mạnh Tuấn, and returning collaborator Nguyễn Thị Hải Phượng. Musically, the record spans diverse stylistic territory—from the pre-1975 cover "Hoạ Mi Ca" and the traditional melody-driven instrumental "Lý Qua Dub" to regional Southeast Asian references, Latin American Tango and Cha-Cha-Cha grooves, and the single "Trúc Xinh."
Visually, the release draws from Mid-century Vietnamese modernist graphic design with Cubist influences, rooted in the École des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine tradition. The album's broader cultural footprint is underscored by the band's single "Ai Thật Lòng Yêu Ai" entering the permanent exhibition at the Philharmonie de Paris, contributions to the documentary Y Vân: The Lost Sounds of Saigon and the James Bond video game 007 First Light, and documentation in the upcoming film That Saigon Soul Sound by Louis Corallo and the Cake Collective.
